President Donald Trump is scheduled to speak at the Digital Asset Summit (DAS) in New York on March 20.
This will be the first time a sitting U.S. president has participated in a cryptocurrency conference.
Donald Trump, Historic Appearance at the Digital Asset Summit
Earlier this month, Donald Trump hosted the first-ever White House cryptocurrency summit. The community was not particularly satisfied with the progress of the summit, but it provided several important updates on the U.S. Bitcoin reserve and the government's current regulatory stance.
According to reports, Trump's appearance may not be live. Some sources suggest he may deliver a pre-recorded message.
Nonetheless, this will be the first time a sitting U.S. president has officially spoken at a cryptocurrency conference.
"I've gotten clarity on this — multiple sources on the ground at the DAS conference say that President Trump plans to live-stream and address the audience at some point today or tomorrow. That's still possible, but a pre-recorded message is also in play," wrote Eleanor Terrett.
The summit will also feature key lawmakers, including Reps. Ro Khanna and Tom Emmer, as well as industry leaders like MicroStrategy's Michael Saylor and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse.
This morning, Garlinghouse announced that the SEC has dropped its lawsuit and appeal against the company over XRP.
The cryptocurrency market has shown signs of recovery this week. This morning, the Fed announced that it is currently holding off on rate cuts, but two rate cuts are planned by the end of the year.
Trump's DAS speech could have additional impact. If he suggests a more favorable regulatory approach to digital assets, the market may react positively.
