As the Trump administration nominated Brian Quintenz as the new Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), a confirmation hearing for Quintenz is scheduled to be held on the 10th.The U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee officially announced through its website that it will hold a confirmation hearing for Quintenz's appointment as CFTC Chairman on the 5th.
Previously, former CFTC Chairman Rostin Behnam resigned from his position in February with the new administration. After Behnam's departure, Commissioner Caroline Pham has been serving as the acting chairperson. The hearing aims to evaluate the candidate before appointing a new CFTC Chairman to fill the current vacancy.
Brian Quintenz was directly nominated by President Trump as CFTC Chairman in February. According to documents released in February, Quintenz's term as CFTC Chairman is until April 13, 2029.
Brian Quintenz previously served as the policy lead for a16z Crypto, a global cryptocurrency venture capital firm, and has maintained close ties with the cryptocurrency industry. Quintenz has previously served as a CFTC Commissioner during both the Obama and Trump administrations.
