Shopify will collaborate with Coinbase exchange and Stripe payment provider to allow online shoppers to pay using USDC stablecoin.
Shopify integrates USDC payment
Shopify, one of the global e-commerce giants, announces it will start accepting payment using Circle's USDC stablecoin through a partnership with Coinbase exchange and Stripe payment service provider.
Accordingly, buyers can use USDC on layer-2 Base to pay Shopify merchants. Stripe will then allow stores to choose to receive their preferred fiat currency. This service will be launched in stages for Shopify merchants in 34 countries from now until the end of 2025.
Shopify will enable USDC (Stablecoins on @Base) in Checkout via Shopify Payments and Shop Pay. Early access starts today, roll out throughout the year.

Additionally, Coinbase will collaborate with Shopify to deploy the Commerce Payments Protocol, addressing challenges faced by the e-commerce industry when integrating cryptocurrencies.
This is another positive news for USDC stablecoin in a short time. After Circle successfully conducted its IPO in early June, the company announced integration deals for USDC with Shopify and XRP Ledger.
Payment giant Stripe has just acquired the crypto wallet Privy at an undisclosed transaction value, shortly after spending $1.1 billion to acquire the stablecoin Bridge platform.
