Pavel Durov - founder and CEO of the encrypted messaging platform Telegram - recently revealed in an interview with the French magazine Le Point that he has written a will to distribute his $17.1 billion asset block to over 100 children.
According to the sharing, in addition to 6 biological children with three women, Durov also has about 100 other children born from sperm he donated over the past 15 years in 12 countries. He emphasized that all children, regardless of how they were born, will be treated fairly and receive equal benefits according to the will.
However, notably, the entire asset block will be frozen for the next 30 years. According to Durov, he wants his children to grow up and live independently like any other normal people, rather than relying on their father's massive asset block.
The information was disclosed in a context where Durov is entangled in legal troubles with the French authorities. Although he was recently allowed to leave French territory, he can only move to Dubai and only for a maximum of 14 days. This is the second time since his arrest in August 2024 that he has been allowed to go to Dubai, after the first time in March of the same year.
Also in the interview, the Telegram CEO completely denied the accusations against him and affirmed that some criminals using the Telegram platform does not mean that the operating team or himself are accomplices or related to those illegal activities.
