On July 9th Vietnam time, US President Donald Trump posted on the Truth Social platform that he will issue a trade-related announcement for at least 7 countries tomorrow morning US time. Additionally, he mentioned that he will continue to release more content related to other countries in the afternoon of the same day.
Trade policy has always been the focus of Trump's action plan since his second term. Issuing multiple notifications related to several countries on the same day indicates that the current administration is pursuing a more comprehensive and tough trade strategy aimed at consolidating the United States' economic position on the international stage.
Previously, the US President Donald Trump's administration announced plans to impose new import tariffs ranging from 25% to 40% on goods from 14 different countries. This policy will take effect from August 1st, 2025, and marks a new strong move in the United States' protectionist trade strategy.
In the official notification sent to the countries involved, Trump clearly stated that the reason for imposing high tariffs is to address prolonged trade deficits and policies that the US believes are disadvantageous to its export goods.
