PANews reported on July 24 that according to Cointelegraph, on Thursday, when prosecutors were preparing to conclude their statement in the criminal case against Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm, they summoned IRS agent Stephan George to testify. George reviewed transaction records related to Crypto.com and Binance, stating that based on communication records between co-founders Storm, Alexey Pertsey, and Roman Semenov, Storm "controlled" the funds after cryptocurrency was sent to the Tornado Cash smart contract address from an account associated with Binance.
Previously, Storm's lawyer questioned the evidence using the experience of "pig-butchering" scam victim Hanfeng Lin, claiming no funds were directed to the mixing service, or requesting a retrial, and also stated that Hanfeng Lin was insufficient to testify about tracking cryptocurrency crime proceeds. The core of the case is whether Storm had the ability to control Tornado Cash by blocking or suppressing illegal funds. Another government witness testimony focused on the performance of the mixing tool under sanctions. Storm's lawyer also plans to summon "two or three experts" and a Chainalysis expert witness.
