According to Cryptonews from ChainCatcher, Kara member Park Gyu-ri is facing additional cryptocurrency-related charges. Park Gyu-ri is accused of involvement in the Pica Coin cryptocurrency fraud case associated with Park Geun-hye's former boyfriend Song Ji-ho.Pica Coin is a low-market-value token primarily focused on art.
Park Gyu-ri stated in court that she did not participate in any illegal cryptocurrency plans or token price manipulation. She claimed that during her time as "Chief Communications Officer and Advisor" at Pica, she was merely an employee involved in planning and promoting art exhibitions and was not familiar with cryptocurrency asset-related matters.
Nevertheless, Pica Coin CEO Seong Hae-joong stated that Park Gyu-ri's statement is false and that she had previously received cash compensation from Song. Currently, Song has been arrested for fraud and breach of trust, with prosecutors accusing him of soliciting investments in non-existent artworks and manipulating Pica Coin prices for personal gain.
