PANews: Ethereum continues to attract institutional capital through staking and re-staking mechanisms. Recently, Joseph Chalom, a 20-year veteran executive from BlackRock, the world's largest asset management company, announced joining the publicly listed Ethereum treasury company SharpLink Gaming (ticker: SBET) as co-CEO, embarking on a new career stage. After Chalom's joining, SharpLink Gaming quickly purchased over 77,000 ETH and staked them all. The company now holds approximately 438,000 ETH, competing with Bitmine for the "ETH version of MicroStrategy" status. While Bitmine attracted Ark Invest's heavy investment under famous analyst Tom Lee's call, the SharpLink team, primarily with a crypto background, urgently needs Chalom, a leader with traditional financial connections, to help introduce Wall Street capital. With his extensive traditional financial and legal background, Chalom will become a key figure in SharpLink, helping the company's strategy achieve rapid development. Joseph Chalom graduated from Johns Hopkins University and Columbia Law School, initially working as a corporate and regulatory legal consultant before entering the fintech field. Joining BlackRock in 2005, he served as COO of BlackRock Solutions, promoting the global institutional-level risk control and investment management platform Aladdin, serving assets over ten trillion USD. In 2020, Chalom was promoted to Managing Director, comprehensively responsible for BlackRock's strategic planning in digital assets and technology ecosystems, leading collaborations with digital asset institutions like Coinbase Prime, Securitize, BNY Mellon, and Circle, promoting deep integration of traditional asset management and blockchain ecology. In July 2023, Chalom announced joining SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO, starting a new journey in the crypto field. ConsenSys founder Joseph Lubin also highly endorsed Chalom's joining, believing it to be an important endorsement of SharpLink's Ethereum treasury strategy. Joseph Chalom was the core driver of BlackRock's digital asset strategy, leading the launch of the world's largest Bitcoin ETF iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), managing assets over 80 billion USD, firmly leading the market. In July this year, BlackRock also launched iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA), providing compliant and convenient digital asset investment channels for traditional investors. ETHA has grown to over 10 billion USD in management scale within a year, becoming the third-fastest ETF to reach this scale. Chalom also promoted BUIDL, an Ethereum-based Treasury tokenization product, innovatively connecting traditional finance and blockchain. BlackRock began exploring the crypto field 10 years ago, and under Chalom's leadership, the digital asset team closely collaborated with industry giants like Coinbase and ConsenSys, committed to building a compliant, secure, and efficient digital asset ecosystem. Facing market volatility, Chalom remains steadfast in his optimism about blockchain technology's future, believing it will play a crucial role in global financial infrastructure.
