The most popular crypto wallet in the market, MetaMask, confirmed its plans to Token Issuance , which will likely be tied to its "sister" layer-2 project, Linea, of its parent company, ConsenSys.

In an interview with The Block , ConsenSys founder Joseph Lubin confirmed that MetaMask plans to launch its own Token , with a launch date "sooner than people think." Last month, MetaMask co-founder Dan Finlay also hinted at the possibility of his wallet having its own currency.

This information is extremely important because MetaMask is one of the oldest and most popular crypto wallet applications, used by the majority of the crypto community to interact with EVM blockchains. MetaMask in 2025 has increased its activity significantly by expanding to the Solana network and soon to Bitcoin , as well as launching its own stablecoin mUSD .
Another project under ConsenSys , layer-2 Linea, recently Token Issuance , with Mr. Lubin a few days ago "hinting" about the economic mechanisms being built for LINEA, including Airdrop and DeFi for Token holders, in collaboration with MetaMask.
