The June JOLTS survey suggests the same slow-to-hire, slow-to-fire economy continues.
There were 1.06 job vacancies for every unemployed worker (vs 1.065 in May)
The post reopening decline in posted job openings has stabilized around 7.5 million.


For the private sector, the hiring rate ticked down to 3.6% in June (from 3.8% in May), the lowest level since last summer
The layoff rate held near the cycle low of 1.1%.
Job openings ticked down to 4.6% (from 4.8%, which was revised down from 4.9% in May)

Job openings in construction and manufacturing have been holding steady in recent months after steadily declining since 2022
